Fireproof

I was told to watch a movie by my in-laws called Fireproof. I had no idea what it was about and so my husband and I rented it and watched it. I was expecting it to be a sweet story of a fireman -- and basically his life as a fireman. Nope! It was much better than that.

For those of you who have not seen it -- rent it!! It is such a wonderful story about love. Love is work. Anyone who tells you differently is either extremely self-sacrificing or lying.

Each day it is a choice to love your spouse and to serve them. Sometimes I know in my life it is much easier to put service on the back burner and attend to what you feel you need and deserve.

In the movie the husband is told to do a Love Dare. He receives a journal with instructions for I believe 40 days of service to give his wife. He does it unwillingly. But as he goes along the journey it starts to change him. It is slower to change her, but he realizes that serving her does not require her to deserve it. Many times we are given things by Heavenly Father and we completely do not deserve them.

I have decided to write my own Love Dare in a Journal. I have committed to do 40 days of service. It might not be exactly like the movie, but I think it will be good for me to change my outlook on life. I have such a selfish tendency to only worry about my feelings and what I need. I am hoping that it will take me closer to my husband and ultimately closer to my Heavenly Father.
